‘Plastic-free Campus’ Campaign

September 2018 - December 2019

Covering the entire campus, the ‘Plastic-free Campus’ campaign encourages CUHK students, staff and caterers to reduce the use of plastic disposables. During the campaign, campus caterers will gradually implement a range of green measures. For instance, they will not sell bottled water in plastic bottles with a volume of one litre or less, and will not distribute plastic straws, free disposable tableware or Styrofoam lunchboxes. They will also try to replace single-use plastics with environmentally-friendly substitutes, such as reusable tableware and lunchboxes or paper straws. Together, we are building a campus free of plastics by implementing the principle of plastic waste reduction at source.
